I live in Western Maryland and we have tons of deer here! The system does work. Just make sure you have the plants far enough inside that the deer can't just lean in and nibble. Also be prepared for a couple incursion attempts in the first few days after you put this up. So maybe install it a few days before you actually put live plants in the ground. Do pay attention to the string as it can become entangled on an animal or bird leg. I use very light weight line so that it will snap if it gets caught on a leg. It's very easy to mend, so please don't use heavy line and keep it up a few feet to avoid cats and dogs.
