Of course you can use airdrop from iOS to iOS device (iPhone, iPad, iPad) but you can also use it for iOS device to your Mac or Apple computer. You can transfer/move/copy files like documents, photos, videos etc directly from your iOS devices to your Mac and vice versa. The transfer speed using airdrop is very fast as you can see from the 4k video footage I transfer that is almost 1GB.
