In this video, I'll show you how to fix Windows 10 problems by downloading and creating a Recovery Disk. You can boot from it and solve many common problems that might prevent your PC from starting. This will help you diagnose, and hopefully fix, problems with your PC. So here's what you'll need. First, you'll need a Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10 PC with an Internet connection and DVD burner. And secondly, you'll need a PC with Windows 10 that has a major problem that prevents it from booting; for example, the black screen of death. So the first thing you need to do is to log into your working PC and visit this website. It's a page on the Microsoft site that allows you to download a tool that creates installation media for Windows 10. Now I know what you're thinking: installation media? Why would I want that? Well, the Windows 10 install disc includes a feature called Automatic Repair, which should detect problems with your PC and fix them automatically. So please visit this site, the link is in the description. Once you've arrived at the site, scroll down and you'll see two links. Now you can either download either a 32-bit or 64-bit version of the tool used to create the installation media. The computer you're using to create the media probably has a 64-bit operating system on it, so if I were you, I'd download the 64-bit version of the tool, and if this doesn't work, then get the 32-bit version. Anyway, the tool will download, as you can see down the bottom of the screen, and after it's finished downloading then open it. Now after it's opened, you'll see the "What do you want to do" screen, select "Create installation media for another PC" and click Next. Now choose your preferred language, I'll select United States English; then select your edition. If you have Windows 10 Home on the computer you're trying to recover, set this to the Home version, and if you have the Pro version, select Pro. Now, under Architecture, select 32-bit if the PC you're trying to recover has 32-bit Windows 10, otherwise select 64-bit. Then click Next. Now you can choose which media to use. I'll select ISO file, as I don't have any USB sticks handy and my working computer and the PC I need to fix both have DVD drives. Now, after clicking Next, it will prompt you with a dialog box asking where you would like to save the ISO file. I've chosen a folder called, quite appropriately, ISO folder, so I'll click save. Now, Windows 10 will be downloaded from Microsoft's servers onto your computer. You might have to wait a little while: I waited for an hour with my 10Mbit/s web connection. After the operating system has been downloaded, it will verify the download, which might take a little while as well; and then it will create Windows 10 media, which essentially means that it will create the ISO file in the folder you specified. Now it's done, and you would normally be able to click on this link to open the ISO burner. But it came up with this strange error on my PC, so instead I clicked on the link to the path where the ISO file is stored. I then right clicked on the Windows 10 ISO file and clicked Burn to Disc. Now insert a blank DVD into your drive and click the Burn button, and wait about ten minutes. After the disc has finished burning, the drive should automatically eject. Remove the disc and go to your Windows 10 PC that has problems booting. Now what you want to do is insert the recovery disc into your Windows 10 PC - the one which has the problem - and boot from it. Now with old BIOS-based systems it used to be easy to boot from a DVD, but newer computers use UEFI, which makes the process a bit more difficult. Anyway, there are a variety of methods to use on UEFI systems and I'll put links to some of them in the description of this video. After booting from the DVD, your PC should display this screen. Windows 10 Automatic Repair will hopefully will diagnose your problems and fix them automatically. If it doesn't, then you might be presented with a screen like this. Click on Advanced Options and work your way through all of them; I'd probably click Startup repair first, and if that doesn't work, then you could try some of the others. System Restore would probably be the second most useful option, as it might allow you to restore to a point before you installed Windows 10 on your PC.
